A guide to our standard

With our positive behaviour support services, we specialise our services to children, teenagers and young adults.

We start with a conversation to get to know you, your family, your needs and you get to know us, if we are good fit for you.

Functional Behaviour Assessment

Once we get to know you, we embark on a journey to understand the behaviour of concern, to answer the why?

We understand a behaviour of concern or challenging behaviour, is a form of communication of unmet need. We work collaboratively with the individual, their family and relevant stakeholders for an evidence-based process that involves:

  • gathering information through interviews

  • reviewing professional reports and assessments

  • environmental assessment

  • data collection through direct observation and ABC recording

  • identifying person's strength, preferences and wishes

Behaviour function hypothesis is then formulated using behavioural assessment tools and functional analysis.

A Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) report is then developed.

Interim & Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan

We develop an individualised, strength-based and evidence-informed, behaviour support plan that is responsive to the individual's needs and within NDIS requirement standard.

We conduct a holistic assessment beyond the problem behaviour, in order to empower the individual and their family, improve the person's environment and build their capacity for change through skill building.

Each behaviour support plan focuses on proactive approach through recommended strategies that are evidence-informed, tailored to the unique needs of the individual and aimed to improve their quality of life.

We measure our impact through feedback and data of reduction in frequency of behaviours of concern occurrence, or in an ideal situation, their fade out. Where there are restrictive practices, we strive to reduce them or eliminate them through a fade out plan developed in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. We aim to make a difference by creating long-term solutions that upholds human rights.

Upon completion of our assessment, we develop an Interim Behaviour Support Plan (Safety plan) within 30 days from the commencement of our service. This is aimed to mitigate immediate risks in order to secure safety for the individual, others and community. We develop Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan within 6 months from the interim plan. We review comprehensive behaviour support plan within 12 months from the date it was developed.

While the bulk of our work is behind the scene (not face to face), we collaborate with the individual, their family, community and relevant stakeholders. Team effort is important to us.

Training and plan implementation

Each behaviour support plan is followed by training and couching the individual, family and staff and other relevant stakeholders where applicable. Our goal is to ensure family and carers understand the person's needs, and how to implement the recommended strategies with confidence and consistency.

We offer training either as a group or one-on-one, using strength-based approach and tailored to the person's or group capacity. Our goal is to empower their family and carers, in order to ensure the behaviour support plan implementation is delivered effectively, and each behavioural outburst is responded to with empathy, patience and curiosity.

We monitor the implementation progress from time to time. This can be through face-to-face contact or remotely. Feedback is important to us in order to bring change.

From our families

Since you got involved I feel supported and less stressed to know I have your support. I have tried your strategies to give warning, responding in a calm tone and most of the time it is working. We now have a consistent night time routine and he has no problem to give me his phone before bed and using only on weekends.
